Oh boy, youre good.
Catch Elliott's performance of Donny Hathaway A Song For You on Idol tonight. I'm sorry Kev, I cant help it. He is my current man crush at the moment. Just listen to that velvety voice. I dont care if he wins or lose, this is one CD I will have in my collection.
Thanks to Rickey.Org for this. Head over there and show the guy some love. He has music and videos of other performers as well.
Velvet Presents I Am Fabulous
Hmm apparently my stint at Velvet will be called "I Am Fabulous". I almost choked on my pita bread with chicken ham lunch this afternoon when I saw it. Haha. I dont want to bite the hand that feeds me, but how try hard is that tag?. But hey, I hope I will not jinx the night because maybe in a way the title is a tad fitting no? Coz all you people who are coming to the party are certified by Sirim as Les Fabulouso (I dont even know whether there is such a word so all you grammar teachers get off my case!).So the deal is, Zouk has decided to test the night first. So instead of the initial agreement of it being a 3 weeks a month stint for the night, I will play on only two confirm dates. Bummer. I was looking forward to having a venue as a safe place for me and my peeps to party and be all gay and merry. I guess, I will have to prove my worth then. So come and support kids! We gays need to come together and conquer this joint. Props to Kassim, Yam & Ies for making this happen.
In the meantime, if you do know of a club with a capacity of about 400-500 who's willing to let us run rampant on a Saturday night, gimme a holler. I promise you a packed house.
Back then, after I left Liquid, I took up the residency at Bliss just to prove a point. Simply that gay men do want more from their music. That we want quality clubbing time with as less drama as possible. I was extremely strict with the music policy so that I could practice what I preach. I have to say I was glad that the Sat night was a tremendous success. We made business for Atmos, more than any other nights they've had, the crowd was beautiful, and the music was of course, rockin! But then it all had to end because I didnt know that they planned to close the place anyways, so I was a bit miffed by that. You worked so hard for it and then it just went zilch. Congratulations to Atmos people for Maison, it's a nice club and all, but like I said earlier, good luck with ropinng in the clubbers. I knew I had to leave because for a place like that, it will be very unlikely that Divine will continue. New place, nice venue, come on...why would they want me to continue my "niche" night?
So I'm club hunting. Come on boys and girls. Spread the word. We need us a new venue. Something like Sugar would be nice, too bad the manager guy is not too happy with it being "alternative" on Saturdays. Dude, it's your call.Come out this Friday to Velvet. Will update you on more dates of my gigs there.
What's new in my playlist. Download it if you can. Rockin gloriousness magnified.
1)Jacks N Daniels - Make It Loud - the original is a gorgeous piece of disco glory but for all you peak time heads, the Kidology electro tinge workout is the one to drop.
2)Bob Sinclair - World Hold On - coming off from the success of the whistley Love Generation is this sublime piece of uplifting house. I'll say the remix package is pretty solid but my pick is the bass heavy Axwell interpretation. Imagine it loud. Fantastic.
3)Madonna - I Love New York - Bootlegs of tracks from Madge's new album are just dropping like flies and Cleo does the best ones. His acid tinge remix of the "Eff Off" track is a definite gimmick track for all you dancing boy Djs. Other notable Madonna booties by Cleo Naseer are his mixes for Fighting Spirit, Sorry & Future Lovers. I'm jealous, he's good.
4)Teamsters - Feel Like Love - another gorgeous disco flava with an awesome string sample. Summer is near. Mixes by Soul Avengerz & King Unique.
5)Daley Padle & Dj Exacta - Pride. Yeah, it samples Aretha Pride A Deeper Love. Cant go wrong right?
6)Kurd Maverick - The Rub. Another killer one from Kurd. The bassline is a killer. I'm looking for a suitable pella to mash on this one.
7)Eddie Thoneick -Love Sensation. Awesome sample of Lolleatta Holloway. Killer electro mix on the original. Kurd Maverick gave it some gelek beats for those who prefer more booty shakin. Prime beef.
8)Gypsy vs Fight Club - Spread Love. I just want to spread love all over the world.
9)Southside Hustlerz - Right Before My Eyes. One of my fave piano house track from last year, given new leash of life with remixes by Hoxton Whores & Dave Spoon. Watch it explode.
10)Mike Da Wizard - Deep In You. LOL. Cameo from so many people and past classics. Would definitely work. I wont tell who's on it but I'm too sexy for my shirt.
My bootlegs for April that you should expect to hear.
I've done a remix of Beyonce Check Up On It. Been rather well received by my dj buddies and friends. I'm working on a few more for Friday. So far I've also managed a few mashups. I did a mashup of Delacy classic "That Look" with Antoine Clamaran piano track and also a peak time stomper mashing Mary J Be Without You and Eric Smax- Our Roots. I'm quite proud of these two.
Peace, im out.
Pink Is The New Black
I'm loving Pink's new album. Some might accuse her for being ballsy for shock value to sell more records, but I think her concern is genuine. She is one of those vocalist with a clear tone and an amazing range. If you havent gotten the new album yet, go get it now. It's excellent. In the meantime, here's a taster of the more serious side on Pink - she's performing one of the more political track called "Dear Mr.President", which I think is an excellent song.

An update at last..

Been too busy doing nothing. Been too lazy to do something. All sort of things. Havent touched the Blogger in days and the thing is too darn slow for some reason. Anyways, updates for those who cares.First thing first. Ok, collectively, let's go...Awwwwwwww!! So cute~ You happy Yam? What else do you expect, the boy's getting hott! He's practically dishy now. The hair really do wonders for his features.

Next on my list today is Dirty Sanchez. First discovered them via Fucking On The Dancefloor, expect a remix from me comin to you soon. Oh by the way, do come to Velvet Zouk next Friday because, yes, Lovemachine begins there every Fridays and it is my honor to shake your booty. Who is Dirty Sanchez you might ask? They're an electro band consisting of Jackie Beat, Mario Diaz and friends.
Check out that video for Loose Girls. I love it!!
I guess that's it for today. I'm gonna go shower and get dinner. But before that, tonight I'm gonna check out Bobby's "Garcon" party at the new joint Club Maison. Went there for the launch. Love the place, lots of beautiful people that came to the party. Just wondering how many will still stay and come back there though. They should play funky house at that joint, I'm afraid they might still hook up with the samey music policy with Atmos so..er...good luck!
Yay. Labour day is coming. Lordy lordy. I hope I wont be too trashed out.

Sometimes Boredom Create Fun Things.
I have two things to highlight tonight.
1)I'm so happy to find Jennifer Hudson's Weekend In New England and her audition performance from Youtube, where else? I love Jennifer Hudson. Youtube Rocks!! **AWW UPDATES! THE PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN DELETED!! Aw BUMMER. Wish I had saved it**
The Audition
Weekend In New England.
She should really record this. Goodluck with Dreamgirls Jen! I saw the clips and I think you'll rock the Effie role.
2)Secondly, I'm loving this guy. Now this is what we call presence and precision. I think this guy is probably a film student.Or aspiring director. He has a good eye for angle and colors. But his lipsynching talent is so OUT OF THIS WORLD! You aspiring drag queens, take note. This is how you mime someone else's songs. Haha. You must do it justice.
Jennifer Holliday - And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)
Mary J Blige - Be Without You

Diva 101 - Hmm Von?
Whoaa. This boy can saaannngggg!!
Here is Von demonstrating his inner diva. Aretha would choke on her sandwich if she sees this. You got a big black girl inside you waiting to come out dear boy.
I love you :)

Eventually Something Like This Will Happen

All you need to do is pick a picture that appeals to you and I was torn between two choices out of the 9 choices. But I clicked on both of them anyways. Of course, I clicked on A first (duh!). The results.
Picture A.
Your Personality Profile
You are pure, moral, and adaptable.
You tend to blend into your surroundings.
Shy on the outside, you're outspoken to your friends.
You believe that you live a virtuous life...
And you tend to judge others with a harsh eye.
As a result, people tend to crave your approval.
Picture B
Your Personality Profile
You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.
For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.
So does that really reflect me? I dont know. In parts I guess. I know either Ies or Yam or Kevin will eventually get here. Is that me? Besides being a cyber stalker or Elliott fanatic, am I like that? No more personality tests on Sundays...
Take the test and tell me what yours are. I didnt show you Picture A & B because I want you to try it out.

Elliott Yamin is my American Idol

Look at him. Just look at him. I dont understand how someone as talented as Elliott Yamin could end up in bottom 3. I dont want to sound like a hater, but why do people keep wanting the jokes to go on? For fun? Is this like an anti establishment thing they're doing. At who's expense? I totally dont understand stuff like VoteForTheWorst. What's up with that? Is this the current attitude of our people? Does this apply to the presidential election as well? Look at how well that has turned out. Come on America, do it right for once. Vote for someone you know who deserves the title. Are you still hung up on his teeth? Come on. How shallow can we get.
Elliott, if I could get you a recording contract, I would man. I've never met anyone more deserving than you.
I'm glad he wasnt voted off but if he gets voted out next week, I dont think I can watch this show ever again. Enough guys, it's not funny.
A million thanks to CanYouSayBlah for the video. You're such a lifesaver.
Random Hotness - Okay Samurai Dave Werner
My crush for today. Dave Werner did Paula's Straight Up, and i think his version is better too! See i told ya I love Paula Abdul. If not because of Paula I would not have found this. Dave baby, you rock!
Dave's a design whiz with a musical bug. He is supremely talented and wildly imaginative. He seems like a really fun guy with a good heart too. I think I'm in love.
More Dave?
Get it here. Don't miss the Madonna tribute. Aww baby!
Fun Stuff - Paula Abdul Now and Then
Paula Abdul might just make it as a comedian. She's funny when she makes some sense. She should try stand up comedy when she's drinking. I love this.
I used to love her when she was a pop artist. Infact I think I still do. If she releases another dance record, I'd play it! I mean her voice was annoying but she had always been fun. She's an amazing choreographer. I admit that I have all of her releases haha because they just really make you dance. And hello, I dance. My absolute favorite was Forever Your Girl and My Love is For Real. She tapped Ofra Haza for My Love Is For Real way before Ofra was back in vogue. We used to think that kinda copied Kylie's Confide In Me, but now I think differently. I still remember how me and Jemay use to bombard our college radio with requests for My Love Is For Real because they wont play it. It was hillarious. Ah..the good old days.

Elliott Yamin - Update
He rocked it! Freddy Mercury would approve. I dont think anyone on that show are even close to how great he is vocally on stage. He's looking cuter and cuter too with every passing week. I hope this week's performance will give him the confidence he needs to own the stage in weeks to come.
Maybe it's time for a performance coach.
Random Hotness - Superstylin!

I'm gonna get dressed for successThese boys are lookin really hot. I love brothas with the balls to try some funk in their style. I mean it helps when you're cute too.
I love the lil pink panther action on the jacket and the yellow colored cartoon hoodie. It takes balls to be able to put this together and pull it off. Show em how it's done girls.

The Emancipation of Mimi Dearest
Paging Mariah Marcos! You have to see this to believe it. Mimi loves shoes! I mean I expected that she'd have shit load of shoes coz she's rich and, you know, she's a big girl. Big girls love shoes! Kinda like me. You know how it is for us curvy babettes, shoes are our comfort food. Even when the dress/pants no longer fits, you will always wear the same size shoes. Shoes, they love you back. But I wasnt exactly expecting this.
I thought she had always wanted to be the R&B Marilyn Monroe thus explaining the lusciousness (tho I know she doesnt like it one bit thus the often photoshopped photos - much like this one, tho somebody apparently went an extra mile, and added a weener schniezel in between her legs, ya know..why not just simply go all the way). However, it turns out that she is aspiring to be Imelda Marcos!
I believe I've seen her lush yet tacky pad on MTV Cribs before (the scenes where she disrobed for the jacuzzi and the one where she changed shoes halfway through the show, still bring tears to my eyes) but I didnt remember seeing this. Maybe this is exactly what I should do with my gazillion pair of shoes. Only Mariah Carey can think of something like this. The gold stars on the floor is designed by her. Heh. I know there's definitely a butterfly door knob or something coz you know how she be. For today, Mimi Scarey is my goddess just because I WANT THAT CLOSET. I love it when famous people get kerrazy! No wire hangers! No wire hangers! Click on the image below for a detailed view!

Random Hotness - Ken Watanabe (yet once again)

Aww. He's already wearing our wedding tux. You wait there ok, I will be there in 20 minutes because I still cant decide on what shoes to wear with my strapless beaded gown (hehe).Ken Watanabe is hands down, the sexiest and handsomest, non twinky, asian actor ever. The girls can have all the other pretty boy actors, this man is the stuff my dreams are made of.
Whaaat? Im bored. It's Monday.

You Gotta Start Cleaning The House!

I would like to put my fingers on you..I would like to paint this picture for you.
It's been way delayed and those stuff in the living room needs to be sorted out by Sunday the very least. Gonna stop living like a caveman and start living like it's 1999.I still can't decide what to do first but I have decided on what to listen to while I mop the floors.
Saturday is gonna be a beautiful day for beautiful music. Needs to remember to get some ice tea mix from the grocery shop just to get in the mood. It may get rainy and cold outside tomorrow, but I want summer to color the inside.
On the winamp playlist:
Leslie Feist - Gonna make like smoky songstress and sing the dirt away. Will have "gatekeeper","inside and out","now at last" on at least 4 repeats each. Will google lyrics after the cleaning is done.
Corinne Bailey Ray - Ah..quality time. Will slow dance with the broom to "like a star" & "breathless" and will snap fingers to "trouble sleeping"
Conya Doss - Mental note, must wear funky towel on head and play pretend like we all Jill Scott soulsister and all that while sorting out the laundry. Ghetto is good with "good good","starship" & "sweet love"
Fiona Apple - Well "extraordinary machine" will feel good when you feel all tired and sweaty. So what if the world wont understand you, Fiona knows how you feel.
Lilith Fair at 10-2-4. Who woulda thunk it.

Friday I'm In Love

put your hand together and we will light this night on fire.
No, not really. I just have this love/hate relationship with Fridays.
I LOVE that it's the last work day for the week.
I HATE that the hours seems longer than usual.
I LOVE casual fridays.
I HATE the massive traffic jams later at 5.
I LOVE that the office seems more cheerful.
I HATE it when my colleagues say "wait till monday lah, it's friday"
you can never win! but then..
I LOVE that i'm so free on Fridays that I can blog my nonsense from work heh.
I WIN
So what else do I love today. Music! I love having my own room at the office so I can have my own music. I present you today's 5 CDs in the CD Changer!
i)Pink's new album. I'm Not Dead is excellente. I shall not review, if you want to know more, read about it here at Amazon. Fave tracks at the moment -"who knew", "im not dead" & "centerfold" but everything else is pretty great too.
ii)Tegan & Sara - So Jealous. Still rocking "walking with a ghost"! though i have new faves - "you wouldnt like me", "i know i know i know" & "i wont be left"
iii)Juliet - Random Order. I love that musically & lyrically she's trying to the female Depeche Mode ("ride the pain"..come on? It's so Music For The Masses. But I didnt say she's succesful with it tho. Sounds more like Pink, which is not necessarily a bad thing) Fave tracka - "ride the pain"(duh!)"puppet", "would you mind". Fun!
iv)My Rock Out personal compilation. All hits, all the way! Featuring Arctic Monkey - "dancing shoes", Franz Ferdinand "do you want to", Matthew Sweet's "girlfriend" & "i wanted to tell you" and many more to fill in an 80 mins CDR. yeah i'm pop like that! :)
v)Madonna - Confessions on the dancefloor. I'm not even gonna try to rationalize this, it's great.
work you like a puppet, love you like velvet!

Elliott in the Bottom 3

As much as I love Elliott, I hope the bottom 3 experience would make him a better performer next week. Honestly, I thought his country week performance was on the boring side because of the song choice. It just didnt do it for me. He managed to make the song less bland, but still it didnt make the performance extraordinary. He was so good the week before when he did Gavin De Graw. I was even surprised at myself for preferring Ace's song over his and I dont like Ace one bit.Sometimes when it comes to a competition like this, you have to be in the bottom 3 in order to fully reevaluate your strengths & weaknesses. No big deal. I think most of the winners have been in the bottom 3. Over at the Idol msg board however things have gotten a little scary. I was there this morning and it's kind of scary to see how his more avid fans are responding to what I consider constructive critiscism. I mean, if we want to make this guy a winner, you gotta do this right? However the amount of furious barking that follows after someone commented that Elliott's performance during country week wasnt his best was really really unnerving. I am glad however that he is safe to go on another week. He has all the chance in the world to shine next week for Queen week because that show is gonna be all about your skill as a singer. Its kinda scary thinking how the other kids besides Elliott, Daughtry, Hicks & McPhee is gonna do. It could either turn into a revelationary week or just a horrible, save the worst singers week.
I wasnt surprised that Mandisa went home. She was definitely a better vocalist that some of the other singers who made it but she had totally lost a big chunk of her popularity vote from her gay admirers after last week's homophobic controversy thing. So goodbye Mandisa, you will be missed.

What Maketh You Happy?
Had a small chat with Ian on MSN before I left the office earlier today, and poor boy was complaining that DJing is affecting his personal life. At first I wanted to just say to him, "hey hon, life sucks but you still have to live it!" just to be funny, but I decided againts it because I dont want to turn a young boy into a pessimist - someone who will just take this as his fate, or as a curse or an occupational hazard, and therefore will blame all of his future relationship failures (he's still young, he has yeaaaaarrss to go) on this alone. If this happens, he will never grow into a man, he will never learn from his own mistakes, and he will never ever for once try to make something work, and he will probably just end up bitter - you know since he's gonna think that everything will fuck up anyways, so why bother?I've what you called an older brother or mommy tendencies which I dont know how to fix. For some reason, things like this will gravitate towards me. Maybe people find it easy to unload on me. Im like the Carrefour unloading bay sometimes. So many trucks to attend to! LOL. Cant help it though. So when stuff like this happens, I will try my very best to bring forward some of the more positive side of things to make you feel a bit better. I was once like him too, so I know this very well, but I think I've learned some lessons in my life that I have a few things to share. Not advice of course, because at the moment I'm againts ranting unsolicited advice because I believe that people should be allowed to make some mistakes in their life, and advice only should be given to those who asked you for it. Ian wasn't really lost or in need of direction, he was just looking for an outlet to vent. So we just had our chat, and I shared some of my personal experience in the matter and in the end, I think he is a bit more relieved. Things havent changed, but at least now he wont walk with heavy bricks on his shoulders. So he will grow up and learn his lessons, at his own pace.
I mean who am I to give relationship advice to anyone at this point. I am not in a relationship. I've never had one where my Djing had affected it and we triumphed over it either. It's like asking a cat how to swim. The only thing I can share was that any relationship takes some work, and even with that you can never guarantee what will happen eventually because in relationships we deal with humans. We are not constants in an experiment. We are all unique equations all to ourselves. Unique individuals with our own set of baggage. You could never completely predict how people will feel or do, and neither can you expect everyone to completely understand you. Even the most predictable of humans can be unpredictable sometimes. But instead of worrying about how it will end up, a relationship should be about enjoying what it currently brings you and then just expanding on that. Only then would you be able to enjoy you how wonderful it can be when it wants to. So what if sometimes you get your heart broken, but it wont kill you really. Sometimes they just need to happen so that you can learn your lessons. So that you can sit down and think and maybe be better personally for your next rendezvous. You cant avoid a broken heart coz, you can try your hand at having a good relationship, but like all things in life - if its gonna happen it will - pretty much like happiness too. We just need to learn to enjoy it while we can. Oops, I'm beginning to rant but you get where I'm going right?
I think we often are our own harshest critic. I know I am. It's in our nature to detect mistakes, it's in everything we do. We are constantly evaluated by the number of mistakes we've made. Our IQs, our exams, our driving license, even crossword puzzles. It's all about detecting mistakes. And people seems to think that making a mistake is like the worst thing ever. But life needs mistakes in order to flourish. I'm not saying it's OK to be a complete asshole, I'm not THAT forgiving you know and I do hold my grudges sometimes, but all Im saying is that when you make a mistake, embrace it, learn from it. That's the most honorable thing to do. Mistakes are bad only when you just dont learn.
I was always told that when you make a mistake, own it. Dont make an excuse for it. Dont expect to walk out in a win win situation ever by pretending it didnt happen. You crossed your friends, it's expected that they'd be angry at you, you cant force them to forgive you. Let them. Learn from that. When they want to forgive you, they will. You break someone's heart, they dont want to forgive you so quickly, let them, you broke their heart for god's sake. You'd do the same if someone broke your heart too. U cant walk away from it and expect it not to haunt you. But it's all for a good cause called experience.I could go on but what I really wanted to say is that life is great really. Enjoy it. Mistakes and all. Life is what you make of it, so lighten up, enjoy it while you can. Just remember to keep your eyes open when you cross the road.
Tune Du Jour - Tegan & Sara vs Gnarls Barkley
Tegan & Sara - Walking With A Ghost.Sometimes I always get into the bandwagon a few years too late. This album was released in 2004, and it was the definitive album for Tegan & Sara, a duo all the way from Canada (yes they are twins and lesbians to boot -0ne point for the gay=genetics school of thought). Did hear about them doing the whole Lilith Fair circuit and some support work for my boy Ryan Adams but I was never propelled to check our their music.
However, guess how I discovered this tune though? Someone forwarded me a clip of a dancing boy who lost his pants, which you can find on Youtube. There were some dingly dangly action towards the end, so if you're below 18 and not used to seeing penises set to music, dont click on this link. (NSFW & Loud) As much as that was entertaining, the tune he was dancing to, got stuck in my head. Some of the comments on that page lead to my discovery of my fave tune of the day . This song has also been covered by The White Stripes for a Live EP. Great stuff to dance in your underwear to while getting ready to go out. Call it a lesbian "I Wanna Be Sedated".
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy. This is another track that's really doing it for me at the moment. The ingredients of this is pretty much what I love about progressive hip hop soul. Great beats, great song writing, great vocals and they get the psykedelic atmosphere just right. It's almost like a track to a mini movie about the urban experience. It's also a great track to smoke to, ehem. The last song that made me feel this way was Goldie's - Inner City Life & Tricky's genre defining debut Maxinquaye.
You can preview the song in full here.
I mean, doesnt this sound like Gorillaz with better vocals? Well the connection is obvious because Gnarls is somewhat a collaboration between DJ Danger Mouse (which helped set the soundscapes for Gorillaz) and CeeLo. However there is also an urban myth about Gnarls. It was widely reported that Gnarls is apparently one of those elusive artists who nobody have really ever met. Danger Mouse & Ceelo is only half of the story. He is like an urban legend who many people have heard stories about, but never actually seen up front. With all the art hoax that's been happening lately especially with JT Leroy (I'm pissed, I love "The heart is deceitful above all things", and to think that all of it was totally made up was kinda fucked up) I hope G.Barkely is not another Blairwitch Project.
Enjoy the music.

Whatever Happened To...
With all the Elliott heat on Idol, and people getting excited over the diminutive soulful vocalist, I suddenly had this craving to revisit my old cds to listen to these two equally soulful guys. One is Trey Lorenz and the second one is Conner Reeves.Trey Lorenz really wowed the pop crowd when he did the duet with Mariah on her MTV Unplugged performance of I'll Be There. The song was #1 for so long that you would've either loved it or hated it. Quickly after that, he had a modest hit with Someone To Hold back when he was signed to Mariah's Sony roster in 1992. I bought the album not for that lead single, but because I fell in love with this bittersweet song called "It Only Hurts When It's Love" which I heard in a mixtape a fellow friend made for me. I was kind of in that little place where that song was really relevant to me, so it pretty much soundtracked many sad evenings during my college years and I keep revisiting it, everytime I'm stuck in that bottle. It did however, made me curious enough to know about the rest of the album. I wasnt disappointed because for a pop album it was pretty decent, but it sounded way too much like a Mariah Carey record. Checking the credits, I think 80% of the songs were co-written by the Mariah Carey, Affanasief, & Mark C Rooney team, u know the folks behind Mariah, so that kind of explained the similarity. However his M.I.A status now is such a great waste of talent tho, because Trey really had a fantastic singing voice - soulful, versatile, and effortless. I wonder where he is now. The last time I saw him was when Mariah introduced him to the crowd when she had her disastrous concert (IMHO) in Stadium Merdeka. Under some different producers, and with better luck we'd probably still be hearing Trey today.
Then there's the matter of Conner Reeves. I wasnt that into him at first, coz his singles were pretty blah I think, except for the exceptionally gorgeous Ordinary People (not the same version as John Legend, just sharing the same title). Even though the album was pretty so so, you cant deny this guy his talent as a singer. He was another blue eyed soulster with a huge voice unfortunately lost in the haystack thanks to a somewhat mediocre album. Not that it's bad, just not very outstanding. But for a first time effort, I'd say it shows a glimmer of potential so it saddens me to think that he might've stopped recording after that. I hope he's still doing some live gig somewhere coz he is muchos talented, and I'd pay money to see him live.I heard he did a gorgeous rendition of Roberta Flack's "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" on a soundtrack somewhere which I'm currently tracking because it's apparently pretty amazing.
**update, Reeves will be releasing a new album soon. A small sample of the album is now available on an E.P called Welcome To The Future. Visit his myspace website for more info and sound clips**
I hope Elliott wouldn't end up like these guys, because they are equally as talented (if not more) as he is. But with the Idols exposure, I bet he can nab himself some killer tracks to have a long career for us to enjoy. I personally would love Elliott to cover the tracks I've mentioned up there especially Ordinary People (click on the link to hear the songs) but this is just me being selfish. Here's hoping to a great new album. Soon

Fun Stuff - Dress Beckham!
Yeap. The pink background says a lot. It's your prerogative whether you want to dress him up or not.
David Beckham Can't Decide What To Wear, Can You?
Monday Blues - Whatsup Busta?
After last weekend's coverage of Busta Rhymes flippin out on some gay kid who tapped his shoulders in Miami, I heart Busta Rhymes a lot lot less. Whatsup with that shit man? Is this some kind of press thing to water down all the Busta gay rumors that's been on msgboards for the past year? So that when somebody googled "Busta gay", they will get this story instead of the previous story? Or you trying to gain thug creds? So that the street will buy your album? That and you claiming you banged Nicole Richie (you'd break the girl, but eh maybe you have a small dingdong, who am I to know).
Dude, if you dont want people to think you're gay, dont be in Mariah videos!!
I use to love Busta coz I think his face was like those claymation cartoon dolls, funny lookin and stretchable. Loved the whole clowny thing he did on Woohah back then. Gotta say, in that video Busta looked a whole damn lot like Krusty the Clown too. Then when the hair was gone, so was his flava :)
So last week Kevin posted Busta's new video on his page, and somehow got me involved (bitch?), so here's my Busta comeback to you dude. So tell who's the real Busta Rhymes now?

I Quote Tori Queen Of The Fairies
I love me some Tori Amos. I still remembered how moved I was when I first discovered Little Earthquakes back in college. Crucified, China and Silent All These Years was all that I listened to for weeks! And I discovered her so late as it was a few years after she had already released Under The Pink. Since then I became a huge fan of hers.I had to thank my lucky stars when she actually came for a concert in Syracuse back in 97! I was a sophomore at Syracuse Univ and back then, none of the people I knew was into her so I had to go to the concert alone. I had the greatest time though. Only so much later I discovered that most of my lesbian friends were big Tori fans as well. I was made an honorary lesbian. LOL.
During the concert (it was just her and two pianos on stage, and one bass player..that was it) she did an amazing cover of The Stylistics - You Made Me Feel Brand New that brought tears to my eyes. I cry too easily perhaps. Oh well. She said, that was the song that made her wants to learn the piano. Her first crush when she was a little girl, I believe it was an older surfer guy, played that to her on the piano and she was moved. I mean a surfer who can play the piano? They dont make boys like that anymore. Her version of that was beyond gorgeous.
I tried to hunt for it - just incase if anybody had recorded it live during that concert or if there's actual studio versions, but to zero success. Oh well, it remained as one of my greatest memory of my New York days. I think the fact that I will never be able to hear it again, made the song into one of my most cherished moments. Im sappy, I know.
So I was reading, this article about her on Rolling Stones today, and I have to say she havent lost the kookiness that I loved - that blunt yet metaphorical way she speaks her mind. I love it. Gotta hand it to her. She's awesome.
"Do you get frustrated with the labels that have attached themselves to you -- like "Queen of the Fairies" or New Age-y? Do you feel they undermine what it is you're trying to say?
I find it amusing, and my very cynical British husband finds it extremely amusing. He's basically said, "If anybody badmouths a fairy, they'll get their dick cut off in Cornwall." You just don't do that. It's like insulting cab drivers in New York."
I love her sense of humor. Read the rest of the article here
